Prologue: A Case Like No Other

In the long, dim corridors of unsolved mysteries, few cases have so persistently haunted the Canadian imagination as that of the legless man of Sandy Cove. It is a case that has confounded the sharpest minds, inspired the wildest theories, and left in its wake a trail of compassion, curiosity, and frustration. Permit me, Major Alastair Montague, to lay out the facts and shadows of this singular affair, as I have reconstructed them from every surviving document, testimony, and rumour.
